When a college football team loses its All-American defensive lineman, starting quarterback and top receiver to graduation and the NFL, fans generally won’t get a meaningful gauge for how the next season might pan out until the season has already begun.

Despite a youth-inflated roster, Pitt may be an exception to this notion in 2014 according to defensive coordinator Matt House.

The class has several elite offensive players, two of whom are local talents.

Pitt's Aaron Donald won his third and fourth major national awards Wednesday night, capturing the Outland Trophy and Chuck Bednarik Award at ESPN's College Football Awards show in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Earlier this week, Donald won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy as the nation's best defensive player, and the Rotary Lombardi Award as the country's best lineman or linebacker.

Pitt’s Aaron Donald won the 2013 Rotary Lombardi Award as the nation’s top college football lineman or linebacker on Wednesday night.

Donald, the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, also claimed the Nagurski Trophy as the nation’s best defensive player on Monday.

Pitt senior defensive tackle Aaron Donald has been named the winner of the 2013 Bronko Nagurski Trophy, annually presented to the “nation’s most outstanding defensive player” by the Charlotte Touchdown Club and Football Writers Association of America.
